12. RoastSignal — iOS App (Last updated: June 2026)
The RoastSignal app (“the App”) is operated by the creator of roastcoffee.ai. This section describes how the App handles your data.
Camera & Photo Library
The App requests access to your camera and photo library solely to let you photograph green and roasted coffee beans for AI analysis. Photos are sent to our secure server for analysis and are not stored, logged, or retained after analysis is complete.
When you use the Analyze Roast feature with a photo attached, the photo may be sent together with your roast session data, such as bean name, roaster name, timing milestones, temperatures, weights, brew type, target roast level, and any notes you entered, as part of the same request. This session data is processed alongside the photo and is not stored on our server.
AI Analysis
Bean photos, roast session data (including timing milestones, temperatures, weights, bean names, roaster names, brew type, target roast level, and any notes you add), and chat messages you send are processed by Google Gemini AI via our private API. These inputs are used only to generate the response shown to you. They are not used to train AI models and are not stored beyond the duration of the request.
Data Stored on Your Device
The App stores your bean inventory, roaster list, roast history, roast notes, and quick-start presets locally on your device using Apple’s standard storage.
This data stays on your device unless you use the export feature (where you control where the file goes) or you run AI analysis on a roast, in which case the relevant roast session data is transmitted as described in the AI Analysis section above. No other data is sent to our servers automatically.
Chat Feature
Messages sent to the Coffee Expert are transmitted to our private API and processed by Google Gemini AI. Conversation history is held temporarily in your device’s session memory and is not stored on our servers.
No Account Required
The App does not require you to create an account. We do not collect your name, email address, or any personally identifiable information.
Analytics
The App does not include any analytics or advertising SDKs. We do not track your usage or share data with advertisers.
Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
