There are coffees you sip to start your day.
And then there are coffees you feel — deep in your soul — because of where you are, who you’re with, and what that moment means.
Last year, we found ourselves in one such moment.
Seated at the Glacier Hotel in Grindelwald, nestled in the heart of the Swiss Alps, I sipped a perfectly brewed cup of coffee alongside my wife — celebrating her milestone birthday. Outside the window, the majestic Eiger mountain towered above us, its snow-dusted slopes basking in the gentle morning light. Inside, the warmth of the café, the soft clink of cups, and the scent of fresh pastries created the perfect setting.
There’s something magical about how nature elevates the experience of coffee. The crisp alpine air sharpens your senses, making each sip more vivid. The silence of the mountains — broken only by distant cowbells and the occasional rustle of wind — creates space for reflection. And in that stillness, the humble cup of coffee becomes more than a beverage. It becomes a moment.
- A moment of gratitude.
- A moment of presence.
- A moment shared.
And sharing it with the person I love most made it even more meaningful.
As I looked at the Eiger, rising proud and eternal, I was reminded of the strength and grace my wife carries with her — traits that have only deepened with time. Celebrating her birthday in this setting felt symbolic. Life moves fast, but there is beauty in pausing, breathing, and grounding yourself with the things that matter: nature, love, and a good cup of coffee.
Above are a few glimpses of that moment — one of the Eiger, and a couple capturing our coffee and pastry. I hope they inspire you to not just drink coffee, but to experience it — in places that feed your soul, and with people who fill your heart.
Until the next cup,
